WE COLLECT INFORMATION:

Publication:

If your work is chosen for publication by DPP or its imprints we will collect your email address and your mailing address, as all our contracts are done as paper contracts with hard-copy signatures. That email address will be added to our email list for our company newsletter, and/or the newsletters of our imprints. We may also ask you for proof of age, in accordance with our mission. That information is shared with no one. If we publish a full-length work written by you, where you would collect royalties from us, we will also collect your social security/tax ID number (for taxes), your citizenship (taxes) and your date of birth (copyright registration). We share that information as required by the US government for taxes or copyright, and with no one else. Files are held as hard copies only in our offices. We may, if we publish your work, as for a phone number. This is not a usual occurrence, and your phone number will not be shared or used for text messages or to subscribe you to any lists unless you request that we use it in that way through sending us an email. Your work and contact information is put into a file in our company Dropbox. It is housed in the cloud. Your work includes your submission to us, as well as any forms of your submission we have as part of book production, which may include WORD docs., PAGES docs., PDFS, or other not specified, as may be needed in order to publish the work.

If your work is not chosen, your work and contact information is put into a file in our secure company Dropbox. It is housed in the cloud.

Please note that: By sending us work for publication, you affirm that you understand that we will house your work (whether accepted for publication or not) in the cloud in our Dropbox and that, solely at our discretion, it may be on our personal/employee laptops as well, and that, solely at our discretion, you will be added to our email database for our company newsletter, and/or the newsletters of our imprints, and that you may remove yourself from this database by using the UNSUBSCRIBE button at the bottom of the emailed newsletter at any time. We will manually collect and add your email, but we will not manually remove your email. You will need to do that through the UNSUBSCRIBE method. IF you unsubscribe, we will not manually resubscribe you unless you submit for publication again, attend an event through an Eventbrite “ticket” (see below), or shop from our online (Woo Commerce) store (see below). By sending us work for publication, or visiting any of our websites, you affirm that you understand that all of our websites are created through WordPress, and you may access the WordPress privacy policy here.

SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS: DPP and its imprints have social media platforms on Facebook, Instagram, Goodreads, and Twitter. We may be able to access email information or “in-app” contact information as is allowed by these platforms. If you are interested in the privacy policies for those platforms, please click on their names in the first sentence of this section. If you choose to provide your email address to us through those platforms, you may, solely at our discretion, be added to our email database for our company newsletter, and/or the newsletters of our imprints, and you may remove yourself from this database by using the UNSUBSCRIBE button at the bottom of the emailed newsletter at any time. We will manually collect and add your email, but we will not manually remove your email. You will need to do that through the UNSUBSCRIBE method. WE COLLECT DEMOGRAPHIC INFORMATION:

If you are published by us we will verify your age, and we will require a biography (the content of which you are solely responsible for) and a photograph of you (which may reveal other demographic information about you, such as gender, race, or age), both of which may be used, at our sole discretion, to publicize DPP, the imprint of DPP, you, and/or your work. The biography and photo may ONLY be used to publicize DPP, the imprint of DPP, you, and/or your work. We are not responsible for the veracity of the photograph or biography of any person, author, friend, employee, advisor, etc. shown on our websites or in our publications. If you publish with us, or buy from our online store, we will collect your mailing address, which includes your zip code, which is also sometimes considered demographic information.

WE DO NOT COLLECT USAGE INFORMATION:

This means we do not collect information such as your browser or IP address unless you choose to give it to us. We do not ask for this information either.

WHY WE COLLECT INFORMATION:

We collect information about authors’ ages so that we may be true to our mission of publishing authors 40 years old and older. It is, in our purview, not discriminatory to choose our authors through a filter of age, as the majority of us will top 40 years at some point, and there are many choices for publication for younger writers only, and we are a private company. We collect other information, as stated above, because in order to register copyright for an author (a service we pay for) or to legally pay authors royalties, the government offices of copyright and revenue require that we do so. When a person voluntarily makes contact with us, through a purchase, attempting to publish with us, or attending an event, among other possible methods of contact, we add them to our newsletter subscriber list because we have a legitimate interest in building a long term relationship with them so that we may keep them in the loop about our publications, events, and authors. ALL are welcome to select to UNSUBSCRIBE from the list at any time, at which point we will no longer have their information, unless they, again, make voluntary contact with us, as mentioned above.

WE DO NOT SELL INFORMATION:

We sell books, and items relating to books (t-shirts, etc.). We do not sell our mailing list or any information about our authors or subscribers.

HOW TO OPT-OUT:

To opt-out of information from DPP and its imprints, please choose to UNSUBSCRIBE from any of our newsletters when you receive one in your email (there will be a clickable link in the newsletter).
